The Ogdensburg Mayor and Council on June 23 adopted Resolution 63-2025 calling for the restoration of Energy Tax receipts to municipalities and for state policymakers to end the diversion of those funds to cover State spending.
The resolution recounts that the State previously allocated $75 million in SFY 2023 and $150 million in SFY 2024 through a Municipal Relief Fund and says that, without restoration, municipalities lose a tool intended to offset property-tax burdens. It directs copies of the resolution to Assemblywoman Dawn Fantasia, Assemblyman Michael Inganamort, Senator Parker Space, the Commissioner of the Department of Community Affairs, the State Treasurer and the Governor, among others.
Council framed the resolution as a statement of local advocacy rather than a binding legal change; it was adopted as part of the consent agenda. The council did not record any opposing votes on the resolution during the consent vote.
