Council approved the recommended location for a new power panel needed to replace an outdated and over‑capacity electrical panel serving the Green Pleasure Pier. Public works staff described three constraints driving site selection: the panel must be at least two feet above high water, must be land side of the seawall, and must be near the pier to avoid oversized conductors and voltage loss. "The panel must be located 2 feet above the high water," the public works representative said when explaining the constraints and code requirements.
Staff recommended placing the enclosure adjacent to Yoshi's building where it can be mounted on a raised concrete platform, minimize view impacts and tie into existing building roof lines; renderings shown to the council illustrated how the stucco enclosure and a matching roof line could incorporate public art on the enclosure door. Council moved and seconded approval of the location; the motion passed 4–0 with one absence. Staff said electrical installation is the city's next critical step before full pier decking replacement.
