Trustee Vick told the board the county allocated a CDBG grant of $128,963 toward local road work and that staff are exploring whether the project can be switched from Orchard to Spring. He said the village is seeking flexibility from the county but had no definitive answer at the meeting.
On a separate federal/state program (ITEP), Vick said the grant would only cover the bike-path portion; to complete that project the Village would need to resurface the entire road and provide an estimated local match of about $327,000 to cover widening, driveway and mailbox impacts. "If we had $327,000.00 it would have been worth it but at this time we don't have those types of funds so it's just not feasible," Vick said. President Shepit said staff will keep pursuing outside funding and encouraged trustees and residents to attend county board meetings to support applications.
