After Bus 10 issues, board authorizes pursuit of lease for an additional school bus

Superintendent (Speaker 4) told the board Bus 10 would need about "$16 to $45,000 to fix" and said it would be poor stewardship to invest that amount in a 2005 bus. "I'm looking for, some direction in the next item to go to leasing option for, 1 more bus, and then I feel we would actually be in very good condition," he said. Members discussed leasing versus purchasing, fleet consistency (flat-nose versus front-engine), and driver comfort; staff will return with detailed cost comparisons.
A motion by Jody to authorize staff to pursue lease quotes was seconded and approved by voice vote. The superintendent said staff will present numbers at the next work session and that acquiring a leased bus would improve reliability during the school year.
