Greenfield Park & Rec liaison reports new fee display and defers most capital replacements

A board liaison reported on the recent Greenfield Park & Recreation meeting and said the committee approved both updated fees and charges and a capital-improvement plan that deferred most replacements. The liaison told the board the committee had about $37,000 in credit-card fees and chose to include a surcharge in the posted price for events so the price shown is final and avoids multiple additional fees at checkout. "People like to see the end number, you know, and then they get $27 and there's plus this fee and plus that fee. And so they they are just put it on there and that's the fee," the liaison said.

On capital items, the committee decided roughly 95% of planned replacements could be postponed because the department prioritized repair and maintenance; only one item was scheduled for replacement in the near term. The liaison characterized the approach as buying quality and repairing as needed to extend useful life and reduce immediate capital outlays. No board action was required at this meeting; the report was presented as an informational liaison update.
