Board approves RG Architects proposal to redesign two gatehouses, schedules financing for 2026

Eric Long presented RG Architects, P.A.'s fee proposal for redesigning two gatehouses and the Board authorized Bowman to retain RG as a subconsultant under standard Bowman terms. Long said the buildings would receive a facelift rather than be demolished and that booking the $62,500 fee as a reimbursable expense would allow design and permitting to proceed pending financing; "As design and permitting will take 12 to 18 months, this will allow work to begin without delays."
District Engineer Charlie Krebs noted the main gate has low clearance and "it has been hit 12 times this year." Staff discussed elevation certificates, possible changes in flood zones, and coordinating monument design to maintain visual consistency. The Board agreed Mr. Long will lead the projects, Mr. Blumenthal will serve as communications liaison, and the Chair is authorized to execute subconsultant documents after review by counsel and the District Manager.
