City planner previews Vision 43 corridor plan, invites committee feedback

Darren Wise, the city’s principal planner, presented the Vision 43 corridor project and asked the committee to review draft uses and design standards ahead of a second community open house. “Vision 43 project [is] looking at 3 focus areas along the corridor, with objectives being to create a new vision for the corridor,” Wise said, describing planned work on pedestrian connections, safe crossings and aligning the development code with community goals.

The draft plan divides the corridor into three focus areas — the Robinwood/Walmart commercial area, the Bolton/old Bolton fire station area and the market area in Bolton — and proposes a mixed‑use zone that would permit uses such as community recreation, open space and multi‑family housing alongside commercial activity. Wise said staff will collect input from upcoming open houses and online comments, revise the draft code and return to the committee before sending materials through planning commission and city council. He outlined a timeline that would begin planning‑commission work sessions in spring and aim for adoption in late summer or early fall.
