Board approves amended FY2026 budget after CFO reports sales-tax windfall

The Board of Education of Jacksonville School District #117 unanimously approved an amended budget for the 2025–2026 fiscal year at its June 24 meeting, following a financial update from Chief Financial Officer Rick Cunningham.
Cunningham told the Board the district is "92% of the way through its budget year" and that the district "ended the fiscal year receiving $554,718.51," a substantial increase from $110,610.99 the previous year. He also confirmed that the purchase of the TAP/CLC building is complete and noted timing differences in state reimbursements, saying the state pays over 14 months rather than 12, which affects cash flow planning. The amended budget motion passed on a unanimous roll-call vote.
Board members discussed the timing of state transportation and Early Years reimbursements during the financial review but did not record additional conditions on the amended budget. The amended budget now reflects the recent sales-tax receipts and the completed property acquisition; staff will incorporate the updated figures into year-end accounting and future projections.
The Board is scheduled to meet next on July 15, 2026, when staff may report follow-up on reimbursements and any budget carryforward items.
