The Village of Lazy Lake Village Council on Oct. 24, 2024 unanimously appointed Council President Ray Nyhuis to serve as mayor through the March 2026 election.
The council also filled two council vacancies created by recent resignations. After deliberation and unanimous votes, Dana Merrill was appointed to replace Mark DiPaolo, and Arnold Aliff was appointed to fill the seat vacated by Ray Nyhuis when he was elevated to mayor. The minutes record each appointment as unanimous and state the appointments will last until the March 2026 election. The minutes do not record the names of the motion makers or seconders for these appointments.
The appointments follow earlier notices to residents after resignations were announced. The administrator reported that responses to the vacancy notice were received from Dana Merrill, Arnold Aliff, and Elizabeth Abrahams.
