The superintendent briefed the board on completed and planned safety and facilities work and suggested the district consider an 8% general-obligation bond to fund additional priorities.
In remarks to the board, the superintendent said bleachers at Palmetto High School were upgraded with new steps and handrails, roofing and HVAC/GAC projects were finished at several schools, and some concrete work remains to be addressed. He said the district needs another activity bus and improvements to restrooms, concession stands and storage to support athletics and operations. The superintendent proposed considering "the general 8% general obligation bond" to raise revenue and told the board the package is intended to help fund approximately $7,500,000 in projects to address safety, technology and facilities needs. No formal bond resolution was introduced or acted on during the meeting.
