Councilmember Dana Merrill updated the council on efforts to identify a new accounting firm. Four accounting professionals were contacted; three responded with similar proposals estimating monthly fees between $250 and $300 (about $100 more than the prior firm) but raised concerns that prevented them from accepting engagement at this time.
Responding firms said they require restricted access to accounting systems limited to the accounting firm, the Village Attorney and the Village Clerk and flagged unresolved historical accounting issues as a deterrent to taking the contract. Council did not select a firm at this meeting and discussion will continue.
