Board warned lower attendance is costing the district tens of thousands in funding

District staff told the board that current enrollment is about 804–805 students while average daily attendance (ADA) is tracking near 733, roughly 91–93% of enrollment. The report noted the p1 attendance figure and that p2 (the second reporting period) is typically higher.
"If you look at being funded average of about 13,000 a student, and if you're down 80 students, that's the funding you're down," a staff member said while explaining the budget impact of lower ADA. Trustees and staff discussed attendance strategies, including campaigns used in other counties (an "Everyday Counts" campaign) and targeted interventions such as differentiated instruction and RTI-style supports where available.
Board members noted apartment openings that have increased new enrollments at some sites, and staff said they are monitoring p2 and pulling iReady and RTI data to inform a workshop discussion on academic achievement.
