An IT staff member (speaker 5) told supervisors the county's servers and storage likely need replacement to bring the county into compliance with CJIS-related rules, and that vendor pricing has grown sharply. "I think I found a solution for right around a $130,000 that would be sufficient to get us through the next 5 years," the staff member said, while also noting some vendor quotes were as high as $400,000 or more.
Board members and staff discussed funding options including the subproject fund, capital improvements, equipment budgets and the timing of tax-related transfers; staff reported a current balance of about $130,424.90 in a related fund and said they could return with a firm dollar amount and recommendation by the end of the week or at the next meeting. The board directed staff to pursue price confirmation and bring the item back for formal consideration.
