Lazy Lake adopts revised floodplain ordinance, names mayor floodplain administrator

The Village Council adopted Ordinance 25-02 on second reading Sept. 24, 2025, updating the Village floodplain management ordinance to identify the effective date of revised flood insurance study and rate maps, to designate the mayor as Floodplain Administrator, and to update the definition of market value. Councilmember Jeff Grenell moved "to approve Ordinance 25-02 on 2nd Reading," and the motion passed 5-0.
Councilmembers discussed that while the ordinance names the mayor as Floodplain Administrator, the Village will pursue a future Interlocal Agreement with Broward County to designate the County as Floodplain Administrator for operational expertise. No effective date beyond the ordinance language was recorded in the minutes.
