District staff provided the board with early enrollment figures and interdistrict-transfer totals for the start of the school year.
The presenter said enrollment was 783 about a week before school started and had risen to 806 by the most recent count completed Aug. 16; last year the district started with 811 and ended with 822. Staff noted kindergarten and several middle-school classes are larger than typical and that numbers fluctuate in the opening weeks of school.
On transfers, staff reported 49 students transferred into the district (30 from New Smythene, 10 from Maricosa, 2 from 24 from Grama) and 33 students transferred out, including students going to neighboring counties. Trustees asked clarifying questions about seat counts and enrollment-driven funding implications.
Staff said they expect enrollment to continue to fluctuate as families finalize registrations during the early weeks of the term.
