The Bass Lake Joint Union Elementary School District board voted to approve a memorandum of understanding with the Cal State TEACH program to allow teacher interns on campus and provide mentor teachers to supervise them. The motion passed on a roll call vote during the meeting on Sept. 11.
The agreement was described by the board as enabling classroom-based internships and mentor-teacher pairings. "This is the memorandum of understanding that allows us to have interns on campus and have a mentor teacher?" the Chair said while presenting the item. Board members asked no substantive questions and approved the MOU after a second was called.
The MOU was presented as a routine collaborative arrangement intended to support future teacher recruitment and provide classroom experience for credential candidates. The board approved the item by roll call and moved on to other agenda business.
