Superintendent Owens outlined the changes: stricter consequences for tardies and skipping class; prohibition of electronic or gas-powered bicycles on school property; elimination of cell-phone use during advisory; provisions for FAFSA assistance for students; updated policy references; and a clarified appeal process. The motion to adopt the handbook updates was made by Terry Fischer, seconded by Scott Ewing, and passed by the members present.
The changes are intended to strengthen instructional time and safety while providing supports such as FAFSA assistance; the handbook will take effect for the 2026–27 school year.
