The Pekin CSD 303 Board approved two renewals with Blue Cross Blue Shield on May 18: one for ancillary benefits administration at $5.47 per employee per month and a second for health-insurance administration at $278.06 per employee per month.
Chief Financial Officer Schaefer explained the contrast between this year and last: a prior good claims year produced lower rates previously, but a recent period with several very large claims pushed next year’s health-administration price higher. “Because the District is self-insured, we pay for the administration of our plan and for a stop-loss policy,” Schaefer said, and the district is responsible for the difference beyond employee contributions. The board approved the renewals by unanimous vote among members present.
