The Rantoul City Schools Board voted to establish a Special Board Committee on Student Equity on May 14. The committee may include board members, district administrators, staff, and community members; the Board President will appoint members in accordance with Board Policy 2:150. Committee meetings will be open to the public under the Illinois Open Meetings Act.
The committee's charge is to review policies, practices, and systems that affect equitable student access and outcomes and to provide updates to the full Board after each meeting. A final report and recommendations are expected to be presented to the Board by the July 2027 meeting, according to the minutes. The motion to create the committee was made by Board President Robin Vaughn and seconded by Niki Pettit; the motion carried on a roll call vote of members present.
