Garrett Hetal, the district's Teacher Support Specialist, presented a broad overview of the TSS role and year-one results, describing classroom coaching, instructional protocols, technology alignment and a district-designed student behavior-management system.
Hetal described practical classroom supports—co-teaching, modeling and targeted professional development—and pointed to work aligning UFLI (University of Florida Literacy) resources with the Wonders core curriculum and producing instructional videos to support i-Ready implementation. He said the TSS has supported teachers at multiple sites and invited trustees to observe classrooms: "If we haven't had the chance to meet, my name is Garrett Hetal. I am ... a grade teacher ... and the teacher support specialist for the district," the presenter said in opening his talk.
Hetal also summarized a district-created behavior-management system (version 2.0) that integrates MTSS, PBIS and SEL practices; he said principals and teachers have been engaged in drafting the tool and that the district plans additional rollout steps and training.
