Rantoul City Schools moved to authorize an agreement with Jennifer Frerichs as the external evaluator required by the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant. The board noted grant guidance requires evaluator costs to be included in the grant budget and encourages selection of an evaluator who is not affiliated with the program.
Dr. Woods framed the approval as an early step in implementing the award, explaining that the district has been awarded funds and now needs a framework for program delivery and evaluation. "The cost for the local evaluation must be included in the budget submitted with the proposal," the agenda stated; grant guidance in the agenda also notes evaluation costs should not exceed 10% of the overall budget. The motion to approve the evaluator agreement was made by Robin Vaughn, seconded by John Brotherton, and carried unanimously (6–0, one absent).
