The Rantoul City Schools #137 Board approved the 2025–2026 (FY26) amended budget on June 18, 2026 following a public hearing that produced no testimony. Superintendent Dr. Woods and Finance Director Chris Johnson told trustees the budget remains temporarily unbalanced because an anticipated levy payment and some state-mandated categorical payments have not yet been received.
Chris Johnson and Dr. Woods explained that once the outstanding levy and state payments arrive the budget should balance. The board moved and passed the budget approval unanimously: "This motion, made by Robin Vaughn and seconded by Debbra Sweat, Carried," with the final recorded tally Yea: 7, Nay: 0. Earlier in the meeting the board opened and closed a public hearing on the amended budget; board president Robin Vaughn called for public comment and "there were no comments."
The board conducted the procedural votes in public session; the action followed the hearing that was opened and adjourned the same night. District officials noted the amended budget reflects current receipts but will be updated when the outstanding levy and state categorical payments post.
