The Rankin School District #98 Board of Education adopted the 2025-2026 Amended Budget following a public hearing at the district meeting room on June 22. Superintendent Dr. Matt Gordon told the board the Amended Budget "predicts deficit spending in the amount of -113,723.00," an improvement from the original projection of -249,114.00. The board adopted the resolution to close the hearing by a 4-0 roll call vote.
Dr. Gordon said the improvement came in part because the district built the budget conservatively (estimating revenues low and expenditures high) and experienced few unforeseen expenses. He noted the remaining deficit primarily reflects planned capital and curriculum purchases, specifically a replacement RTU HVAC unit and a new math curriculum. Member Brittany Webb moved to adopt the hearing completion resolution and Member Peter Bacon seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
