Veterans group asks San Gabriel to honor WWII veteran Mike Valdivia

"We were informed this morning that one of the last, if not the last, World War 2 veterans from San Gabriel, Mike Valdivia passed away," Sanchez said, and described Valdivia’s long history as a local business owner and respected veteran.
Councilmember Menchaca later raised the request again during council reports and asked about the proclamation process; staff said it could be done and the mayor indicated he would approve the proclamation. The council did not hold a separate formal vote on the memorial proclamation during this meeting; staff will process the request according to the city's proclamation procedures.
