Wendy Brooks, a member of the teaching and learning literacy team at the Louisiana Department of Education, opened a webinar for educators and said, "My name is Wendy Brooks, and I work with the teaching and learning literacy team at the Louisiana Department of Education where I support our statewide dyslexia strategy." The session asked participants to access resources and follow active learning activities designed to build understanding of dyslexia.
Brooks framed the webinar as part of Louisiana's broader literacy priorities and listed the session's learning outcomes. "By the end of this session, participants will be able to define dyslexia and risk factors by annotating the guide to dyslexia and completing the note catcher," she said. She also noted that the current Guide to Dyslexia was published in December 2024 and that LDOE is developing a revised guide with a stakeholder work group. The webinar emphasized practical use of the guide and encouraged participants to complete the participant guide activities during the session.
