Dr. Martelli, who presented the committee's work, said the review emphasized shifts in the Common Core and alignment with the Illinois Comprehensive Literacy Framework and noted the committee’s use of grade-level texts and performance tasks in selecting the resources. The motion to approve the purchase was moved by Mr. Van De Velde and seconded by Mr. Downer; the board recorded seven yeas and no nays.
Board members framed the vote as a multi-step implementation: staff will proceed with procurement and planning for classroom rollout and professional development. The purchase was included on the consent-motion record of board actions for March 19 and will be reflected in next year’s instructional-materials spending.
