River Trails School District 26's Finance Committee presented the FY27 tentative budget and five-year projections at the June 9 meeting. Assistant Superintendent for Business Services Ryan Berry said operating revenues are projected at $32,654,392 (a 2.5% increase over FY26) and operating expenditures at $31,221,723 (a 4.6% increase). The presentation identified an anticipated operating deficit of $571,257 for FY27 while projecting an ending fund balance of 79%.
Berry reviewed the assumptions underpinning the five-year projection, including an assumed 2.7% CPI, 2.5% interest rates, $1.5 million in new equalized assessed value (EAV), a 98% tax collection rate, $300,000 in refund recapture and flat state and federal grant revenues through FY31. He noted healthcare premium increases (PPO 16.04%, HMO 14.2%, dental 3.9%) as a pressure on future personnel-related expenditure forecasts. The Board received the materials for information; no final budget adoption occurred at the June 9 meeting.
