Lemont HSD 210 recognizes student-athletes and coach honors for 2026 seasons

During the awards and recognitions portion of the June 15 meeting, Athletic Director Mike Sommerfeld recognized student-athletes who qualified for state competition and athletes who placed in state events. Notable recognitions included Josh Alcantara, Jacob DePirro, Parker Hsu, Owen Hsu, Zak Kosanovich and Ryan Sochowski as 2026 IHSA Class 1A boys’ tennis state qualifiers; Nathan Murray placing third in the 400-meter dash at the Class 3A meet; and Daniel Jaquez finishing fourth in the high jump at the Class 3A meet.
The board also recognized coach Rick Prangen, named a 2026 Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame inductee and South Suburban Conference Girls’ Soccer Coach of the Year. Players Gabriela Kuruc and Madison Weil were named to the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association girls’ soccer All-State team, and the girls’ soccer team finished fourth in the Class 2A state finals. Member Gary Gray offered the board’s congratulations to the students and staff.
