During the discussion, Ms. Jilek explained the mechanics and timing of the transfer and said a formal public hearing will be scheduled next month. "A public hearing will be held next month for the intent to transfer funds from the Transportation Fund to the Operations and Maintenance Fund," the minutes say. The board voted to authorize publication of the notice on a motion by Mr. Van De Velde, seconded by Mr. Blair; the motion passed unanimously with Mr. Downer absent.
The notice begins the statutory process required in Illinois before such transfers; the board will consider the transfer at a subsequent meeting following the required public hearing.
