Winfield 34 board approves $190,062.64 contract to replace network switches

The Winfield School District 34 Board of Education approved a $190,062.64 contract with Net56 to replace the district’s network switches, backing an IT upgrade that also includes new access points and a wireless controller.

Board members framed the move as part of planned summer facility and technology work. Superintendent Matt Rich and Tech Support staffer Dave Baum told the board the upgrades are needed to support school operations and the district’s planned device and network needs. Heather Armstrong moved approval and Alisa Wolfe seconded; the motion passed by roll call vote.

The network contract was one of several capital and maintenance actions approved for the summer, which include replacing the one‑room schoolhouse roof, painting high‑traffic common areas, LED light replacements, and completion of the primary gym floor. The board noted the gym floor will be completed and paid this fiscal year.
