Mallard Point demolition may begin this year; later permits likely charged under new fee schedule

Committee members asked whether the Mallard Point project fees and related revenue would be realized under the old or new schedule. Staff said the current demolition and site-utility work that has been submitted will be processed under the existing fee schedule, but subsequent building permits submitted later will be assessed under whichever fee schedule is in force at the time of application.
Robert Sadnick said the project’s infrastructure plans have been submitted and that review and completeness checks must occur before the department processes a completed permit application. "Optimistically, perhaps we would be they would be starting construction on a demolition sometime this year," staff said, but they cautioned that multiple steps remain and that overall construction will likely be phased across several years. Committee members concluded that most of the large permit revenue for the project will probably fall under the new schedule, though exact timing will determine the city’s revenue recognition.
