Commissioners approve Spectrum and Windstream fiber projects across multiple precincts

Commission staff presented multiple broadband projects and the court approved Spectrum fiber installations covering roads and residential lanes in Precincts 1 and 3 and a Windstream/Kinetic Unity network upgrade for Precinct 4. "It's pretty straightforward. Minimal impacts to any county infrastructure. Traffic control plans have been submitted and everything squared away," Jeremy (project presenter) told the court about the Spectrum work.

Windstream's utility project coordinator, Tim Thompson, said the work will expand and upgrade service in residential and rural parts of the county and offered a contact for residents with issues. "We are expanding and upgrading our network for the residential and rural areas in Scurry," Thompson said, and the court approved the motions after staff presentations. No environmental or right-of-way contingencies were raised during the approvals recorded in the transcript.
