Probation leaders say juvenile facility work will be funded by state; propose promotions and new coordinator role

"We're gonna fully pay for these changes and raises once approved by the juvenile board through state funding. It won't be anything to the county," the probation official said. Proposed changes include promoting a deputy chief to assistant chief, creating a program coordinator for year-round programming and moving a quality-assurance staffer into policy and procedures work for standards compliance.
Commissioners asked about benefits and whether the state funding would include retirement and medical benefits; staff replied that the state covers retirement and Social Security contributions for those positions and that benefits logistics would be coordinated with the auditor's office. No binding budget action was taken; commissioners requested that the probation office provide formal documentation for modeling in the next budget pass.
