The Chanute USD 413 Board approved a $26,925 asbestos abatement contract with Gerken Environmental for the site at 1000 W Main, intended for the new Cooper Early Child Development Center. The motion, made by Bri Leroy and seconded by Dr. Bruce Lee, carried unanimously among present members.
The board recorded the motion with the notation that the abatement would be reimbursed from the USD 413 Foundation. "I move to approve the bid from Gerken Environmental in the amount of $26,925 for asbestos abatement at 1000 W Main St," the motion record states. District staff will coordinate abatement scheduling and report back to the board as part of the project implementation process.
