The Flour Bluff ISD Board of Trustees voted to approve the final design and a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) of $14,652,542 for Hornet Stadium improvements. The approval followed a presentation by the district's design team and the construction manager, who reviewed seating, accessibility features, circulation and contingencies tied to the project.
Eric Gilbert, the project manager for the architectural team, described the key design elements, including an improved front entry sequence, a new press box with a shaded viewing deck and elevator access, upgraded grandstands with restrooms underneath and improved concession queuing to reduce pedestrian conflicts. Chris Brzoski, the construction representative, said the CMAR approach gave the district early contractor input and a menu of alternates; he told trustees, "the GMP is 14,652,542." The board approved the GMP by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
Why it matters: the project is part of the district's Proposition C bond work and is intended to modernize the stadium with improved spectator experience, ADA access and materials chosen for longevity and wind‑storm requirements. The approved price includes owner and contractor contingencies and a pier allowance for foundation adjustments. The district and contractor also discussed a projected August 17 start for on‑site work and a targeted substantial completion date next summer, weather permitting.
