Fire chief urges keeping burn ban after electrical blaze; EMS director flags funding cuts and staffing changes

Guymon Fire Chief Grant Wadley told the commissioners the burn ban should remain in place after a recent large electrical fire on the south side of Texas County damaged a brush truck (Brush 2) and caused the vehicle's electrical system to be fried. Wadley said TCEC arrived at the scene before firefighters and asked whether insurance proceeds could be earmarked to help pay for a replacement truck next year.
Spencer Leiter, EMS Director and MHTC board member, reported that Oklahoma Health Care is cutting shop payments beginning in September, which will negatively affect local billing and bids. Leiter also said Dr. Te's Clinic needs air-conditioning work and may request county funds; rehab services are bringing in traveling providers and will close one wing to reduce staffing. Stacy Johnson submitted a resignation, which the minutes record but do not elaborate on.
The board recorded the reports but did not take a recorded vote on extending or changing the burn ban during this meeting.
