Mount Vernon PD emphasizes body cameras and VR training to improve responses and de‑escalation

On training, Jones described existing computer‑based simulators used in the community academy and said the department is exploring VR headsets that include AI responses to trainees' spoken input so scenarios can react dynamically. He said simulators and VR let officers practice de‑escalation and decision‑making in realistic scenarios without real‑world consequences.
