Danielle Banasiak, the district’s director of finance, told the board that “the millage rate was set to 0.70 mills, a reduction of .20 mills from the 2017 Sinking Fund.” The board approved the language unanimously and authorized staff to submit it before the county deadline.
Director of Operations Mike Zielinski also outlined how projects would be prioritized from the sinking fund, using a three‑tier system with safety and security as top priority. Board materials showed a quote for window replacement at Betsie Valley and schedules for summer flooring and locker replacements; the board was told cost and timeline details will be finalized with contractors.
The approval sends the revised ballot language to the county clerk for inclusion on the upcoming ballot; the board did not adopt final project contracts at the meeting.
