Titonka names Casey Garrett city clerk; longtime clerk Karen Hamilton to reduce hours and remain on benefits through June

The Titonka City Council voted on personnel changes at its Jan. 8 meeting, appointing Casey Garrett as City Clerk effective Feb. 1, 2026. The motion to appoint Garrett was moved by Mike Fredrickson, seconded by Sara Hamilton, and passed on a 5-0 vote. Mayor David LaGue administered the Oath of Office to Garrett during the meeting.
Separately, the council approved a motion to reduce Karen Hamilton's hours to an average of 20 per week, effective Feb. 1, 2026, while continuing her city-provided health insurance benefits through June 30, 2026. That motion (moved by Fredrickson and seconded by Prothman) also passed unanimously. Council later moved to appoint Karen Hamilton as Deputy Clerk effective Feb. 1, 2026; that appointment was approved on a 5-0 vote.
