"This one specifically addresses documentation and data collection that we are not privy to compiling that data and providing it over to ICE enforcement or agents," Superintendent Dr. Puentes said when introducing the policy. Trustees questioned whether recent visa revalidation issues affecting families abroad could influence local enrollment; staff said they are monitoring site-by-site enrollment and will report monthly when the data are available.
The policy language was adopted for first reading with a motion and voice vote. Trustees also requested the district continue outreach and monitor potential impacts to families in Santa Clara County who are on work visas.
