The district presented an overview of its Sept. 24, 2025 professional‑development day to the board, highlighting strong participation and a mix of content intended to support instruction and staff well‑being.
"We had 372 participants," said Drea Ortiz, the district's director of curriculum and instruction, noting 38 separate offerings covering curricular areas, technology, student behavior, and staff self‑care. Ortiz said seven sessions reached capacity and that the format included peer‑led workshops, hands‑on activities and a mindfulness hike. Site administrators used afternoon site sessions to focus on assessment and differentiated instruction, including work with Renaissance and FastBridge assessments.
Board members praised the peer‑led format and asked for participation comparisons with prior years; Ortiz said participation was higher than previous years and noted plans to standardize resources across sites to address variable technology capacity. The district invited trustees to the next PD day on Jan. 28.
