District highlights Hand to Hand partnership and student movement data during informational updates

Administration updated the board on a district partnership with the nonprofit Hand to Hand to redirect share-table prepackaged foods at large cafeterias to families in need rather than discarding them; the district representative said this will increase weekend meal distribution to families across the county.
The administration also presented student-exit data collected this year to show where departing students went: roughly 27% stayed within the county, 18% left the state, 16% enrolled privately, 10% moved out of county, 8% out of the country and about 5% participated in homeschooling. The administration said principals are reviewing the backgrounds of students who leave to identify program gaps and inform retention strategies.
Administration noted a high turnout for junior-kindergarten parent meetings and interest (about 70 families) in a district-wide Health Science Academy program; the board was also updated on an AP Capstone/STEM reboot that drew about 60 families.
