The Forest Hills Public Schools Curriculum Committee on March 4 recommended the district adopt Amplify’s Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) for kindergarten through fifth grade and move forward with a six-year contract for the core program.
Kim Van Antwerp described the CKLA program as “comprehensive,” saying it would remove the need for separate supplemental programs for handwriting, vocabulary and comprehension and that the ELA vertical team confirmed alignment. Teachers will pilot the materials during the remainder of the 2025–26 school year; the district would also buy one-year contracts for Amplify add-ons, including Amplify Boost Reading and mClass DIBELS, to assess their classroom value.
The presentation noted the purchase will be partially funded by $35 million in grant funds. The committee packet lists the specific products under consideration: Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) © 2025, Amplify, Grades K–5; Amplify Boost Reading © 2025; and Amplify mClass DIBELS 8th Edition © 2025.
