Board recognizes state tennis champions; members report on MASP conference and AI sessions

The meeting opened with recognition of Forest Hills Northern's boys tennis state champions. A presenter introduced doubles champions Marcus Bernard and Drew Decker and singles champion Vikram Krishnan, thanked coaches Olsen, Clan, Whitfield and Rivera, and invited athletes and families to come forward.
"We're proud to celebrate the hard work and excellence of these student athletes tonight as we honor 3, 1 of them isn't here," the presenter said during the recognition. Board members and families acknowledged the team and coaches.
Later in the meeting board members reported on the MASP leadership conference, describing sessions on media relations, the board's role in legislation, strategic planning and emerging issues such as artificial intelligence in schools. One board member praised district communications and said the district is —starting down the AI path now.— The superintendent reminded attendees of an aquatic-center groundbreaking scheduled for Dec. 17 at 3:00 p.m. and reported survey participation numbers: about 2,500 parents, 5,200 students and roughly 590 staff (later said to be 592).
The board distributed small holiday gifts and adjourned after noting there were no public comments this month.
