Rick told the commission the department received a DNR grant to improve the archery range with a 75-percent grant match; he said the total project is about $58,000 and staff will put the work out to bid this fall with construction planned next spring. Rick also reported that the 'Abundant' sculpture donated by the sculpture committee should be installed by the end of August with paver walkways to access the site, and that he is preparing a 2027 urban forestry grant to update the forestry master plan and supplement next year's street-tree plantings. Dan described recent operations: demolition at Mink Play Lot in preparation for a playground build next week, readiness for concrete pours and follow-on wood-chip installation, and work to schedule bullpens at Carl Kuss Field later in the season. He also highlighted drought-related tree failures affecting younger stock and failing shelter posts at Ridge Run that staff plan to address in-house.
