Commission accepts donations for Special Olympics, skate park and park signage

Items included $206 from West Bend Friends of Park and Recreation to support signage encouraging responsible alcohol use in parks; small proceeds from a June 20 brat fry that raised about $17.56 for Special Olympics; a $1,000 donation from Fox Brothers Piggly Wiggly; memorial gifts in honor of Clarence Fenner and Mary Feagle; a $100 check from Going Beyond Bridal for Special Olympics; and an anonymous $100 donation to the skate park fund. "So with your permission adding that in to, as a donation for the Special Olympics fund," Carolyn said when describing a recent check.
A motion to accept the gifts and include the additional $100 was made and seconded; the commission approved the donations by voice vote. Staff said the donations will be recorded in the appropriate funds (Special Olympics account, ARC fund, skate park fund) and used for event and program expenses.
