Braden Critz, an Eagle Scout candidate, asked the Park and Recreation Commission for permission to install stairs and a 5-by-10-foot fishing platform at Ridge Run Park to improve access to the river. Braden told the commission the platform and landings will be built with materials he expects to have donated and estimated material costs of roughly $600. "They said they will be donating all the money I will be needing for the materials," Braden said during his presentation.
Staff described the site as a quiet, out-of-the-way location with an existing shelter and memorial bench and said the project would make it easier for visitors to reach the water. Commissioners asked about the platform siting and dimensions; staff confirmed the platform will sit to the left of the water near a large tree. After brief discussion a motion to approve the Eagle Scout project carried on a voice vote. The presenter thanked the commission for their support.
