Council members and residents press for clearer scope and community input on bike park

Council member (S5) asked whether previous councils ever agreed to seed city funds and urged that every step be brought before the council. "We have to really make this clear that the issues that we face today are from missteps that happened," S5 said, pressing for a full assessment of scope, maintenance costs, and community endorsement.
Speakers also urged that the ad hoc committee examine whether the project as currently conceived fits Blue Lake’s character and long-term capacity. S5 said the final project “needs to be reflective of the character of Blue Lake” and that council objectives must drive the partnership with the biking association. Council members repeatedly said that approving the MOU does not bypass the standard process: the council must still review design, appropriations, and permit amendments before authorizing construction.
