Highway gravel budget overrun; Sanborn Hill work continues
Summary
The Highway Department reported that the gravel budget ($10,000) was exceeded — approximately $13,000 spent — to add gravel before paving on the upper part of Sanborn Hill. The Board said the extra work was necessary and extended the compactor rental for a week.

The Highway Department told the Board it needed additional gravel on the upper part of Sanborn Hill before paving. The original gravel budget for the year was $10,000; the department has spent approximately $13,000, using some remaining funds from the Sanborn Hill 2025 allocation to cover the overage.
Work on the road will continue with the compactor rental extended for one more week; the Board said the pavement would have crumbled without the additional gravel and that residents appear pleased with progress. Selectman Keith Cutting asked for updates on Sanborn Hill, and the Board said they are continuing to investigate the situation and researching the relevant laws.
