Resident to research grants to repaint Meetinghouse and Historical Society building

At the July 27 Board of Selectmen meeting, resident Jim Bednar offered to research capital-improvement and other grant opportunities to repaint the Meetinghouse and the Historical Society building; the Board asked him to return with cost estimates and to raise the item at the Buildings & Grounds committee in September.
Jim Bednar told the Springfield Board of Selectmen he would research grant opportunities to fund painting of the Historical Society building and the town Meetinghouse. The Board said the idea had merit but emphasized the need for timing, detailed cost estimates and likely a public bid process before any work could proceed.
Bednar said he would continue his grant research and update the Board with what he finds; the Board suggested placing the item on the Buildings & Grounds committee agenda in September for further planning and cost estimates. Bednar also announced he is running for County Commissioner in District 2.
